Tales From The Haunted Sea

There is no better time for ghost stories than winter with its dark, foggy evenings; the stories that have been frequently swapped and passed on at sea and have become the folklore of the seas more often than not involve ghost or phantom ships. Phantom or ghost ships are said to be supernatural visions which disappear as quickly as they appear on the horizon and of course always signal a tragic fate. Some stories have a base in true stories whilst others are rumors that have become almost believable truths. Of course some will be a mix of both. For a little taste, here's one of the most renowned.

The Flying Dutchman:
The account of this Dutch warship originates from the seventeenth century and is thought to be founded on reality. The vessel, captained by Hendrick Vanderdecken, set sail from Amsterdam in 1680, headed for Batavia, in Dutch East India. While adjusting the notorious Cape of Good Hope it experienced a sudden, serious tempest and as opposed to heading for a sheltered harb…

Spending The Night In A Haunted Bed And Breakfast

On one of my trips with my girlfriend, one night we went through a terrifying experience. We were renting a room overnight in an old bed & breakfast in a Midwest small town.

We had heard rumors that the place was haunted, and we wanted to check for ourselves. The story goes that the former owner died a horrible death, being tortured by robbers to disclose the hidings of his jewelries. Supposedly, the man was hiding a small fortune somewhere in the house. Legend says that his ghost would appear at 3 A.M every night.

We dared to spend the night at the supposedly haunted place. We did not really believed in ghosts, but wanted to keep an open mind and give it a try. There were just a few other guests renting rooms at the bed & breakfast pension besides us.

After midnight, the place got quiet. But when the old clock chimed three a clock in the morning, we heard a thunderous rumbling at once. We opened the door and got out on the long hallway. Then we saw something terrifying.

A ye…

Reflections On Searches For Extraterrestrial Intelligence

Fifty years ago scientists calculated that there could be tens of millions of advanced civilizations in our galaxy and a search for them known as look for Extraterrestrial Intelligence started in earnest. There may or may not be other intelligent lifestyles accessible. however, so it'd seem, the extraterrestrial beings aren't as plentiful as the beginning anticipated.

Meanwhile, our early radio broadcasts have yet to tour outwards a mere hundred light years. Astronomers claim, however, that it's far possible to come across life-bearing planets at sizable distances throughout the galaxy. This is done through atmospheric evaluation (detection of oxygen, smog, anything) of the planets, and it is already viable for us --still within the primitive degree of technological improvement-- to perform such analysis. No, we aren't presently appearing this evaluation on remote planets, but our scientists say that the preserve up is handiest because of a loss of funding for a withou…

Are Parallel Universes Real?

INTRODUCTION: Materialistic individuals believe only those "things" that they can see, taste, touch, hear, or feel exists. Their modern world and its workings are all explained by things and view spiritual teachings that include spirit, afterlife, souls, and life-giving energy as myth and outlandish. Besides, their belief is based on science that has deciphered our universe with the discovery of atoms, molecules, DNA, and electronic chips. This creates a wide gap between the spirituality and science.
Therefore, the gap can only be bridged by understanding this deception. I have been mesmerized on how intelligent people same situation and a set of facts and eventually come up with totally different theories and conclusion.

Mythology is full of stories and beliefs from the past. They usually try to explain why somethings are the way they are today. Many legends believe that mythology is a “reconciliation of consciousness to the preconditions of its existence.” Here, you are going to learn from some of the great legends of mythology.

Joseph Campbell:

Campbell came up with this hypothesis that religion is as a result of the misinterpretation of mythology whether with intent or not. Do you agree with what Campbell is saying?

Religion is an organised, simple adaptation of particular spiritual facts. If you apply Campbell’s hypothesis to this, you will come to a conclusion that indeed his argument holds water.

The primary objective of religion is to maintain direct communication with…
